The 26th Annual Jack Speakmon Memorial Regatta was held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio.

This annual regatta has become one of the most popular fall rowing races in the Midwest and also in the United States.  600+ entries were made by 66 teams which represented 10 states.  All races of the regatta took place between 8:30am and 4:30pm on Saturday.  The 2009 Speakmon featured 51 events for high school, collegiate and masters age competitors.  The Speakmon has become one of the top five single-day head style rowing races in the United States.

The Greater Columbus Rowing Association (GCRA) worked closely with the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, the City of Columbus Police Department, the City of Columbus Fire Department, and local rowing clubs for coordination of the event.

Representatives of all City organizations indicate that there were no problems with the event.

A wide variety of local subcontractors were employed to assist with major features of the regatta including shuttles for attendees, bathroom facilities, t-shirts and medal for participants.
