The Greater Columbus Rowing Association was founded in 1984 as a tax exempt not-for-profit organization. GCRA was incorporated as “The Greater Columbus Rowing Association, Inc.” in the fall of 1984 when its Articles of Incorporation were approved by the Ohio Secretary of State. GCRA’s charter number is 643984. The incorporators and original trustees were Miles C. Durfey, Albert Bishop, J. Patrick Dennis and Robert D. Oldfield III. The first statutory agent was Miles C. Durfey.

Mission

The organization is established to focus attention of the Central Ohio communities on the benefits and feasibility of rowing and crew racing in Columbus. Our most important function will be to foster interest in the sport by means of organizing regattas for international and national competition. The organization welcomes any member of the community to become involved in the rowing development program on a regular basis.
