Silent Auction Bids Accepted Through March 5
The officers are excited to announce a silent auction to support fundraising for the new boathouse.

A GCRA member has recently donated an exercise machine, valued at $2,900, to the club. The machine will be auctioned and all proceeds will be donated to the new boathouse project. The minimum bid is $250. Bids will be accepted through Friday, March 5, 2010, with the winner to be announced at the GCRA Membership Meeting on March 9, 2010.

Bruce Wilkins Named 2010 Program Director

Bruce Wilkins, a five-year GCRA member, has been named as Program Director for the 2010 season. The Program Director's primary responsibility is to guide current and prospective GCRA members toward the appropriate program and groups within the organization. Additionally, the Program Director serves as a central information source, oversees coaching efforts, coordinates resources, and provides feedback to the GCRA Program Committee.

For those of you who are handy with a sewing machine, here is a link to a pattern for pogies.  I have made them several times and found that they work better for my large hands if you increase the size by lengthening the cuff area and increasing the overall size of the mitt.  Other members have made pogies without the cuff material, which is also a possibility.  Enjoy!

....And a Great Time Was Had by All*

   Seventy-five rowers, friends and family members gathered Saturday evening (8/22) at the home of Mike and Deb Stoner for the first ever GCRA “Pig n’ Blankets.”   Long-time GCRA members were joined by new members and by members-to-be (aka Learn to Row-ers).  Almost everyone* had a great time.
