Welcome to Speakmon!

Sunday October 25th, 2026

Fall colors. Cool mornings. Fast racing.

And a few thousand meters of the Scioto River between you and the finish line.

The Jack Speakmon Memorial Regatta is a fall head race hosted by the Greater Columbus Rowing Association on Griggs Reservoir, a tree-lined section of the Scioto River just northwest of downtown Columbus.

Crews race against the clock over an approximately 4,000-meter head course that winds south through Griggs Reservoir towards the finish line near the Fishinger Road Bridge.

Speakmon offers racing for junior, high school, collegiate, open, and masters athletes, with events for everything from singles to eights.

Since 1984, rowers from across the Midwest have come to Columbus for competitive late-season rowing and one of the prettiest weekends of the fall rowing season. The reservoir provides a great setting for athletes, coaches, families, and spectators, with much of the course accessible from Griggs Reservoir Park.

Make a weekend of it! The Blake Haxton Invitational Regatta races Saturday, October 24, followed by Speakmon on Sunday.
