Adult Learn to Row

The sport of rowing has a long history - from being the best way to travel hundreds of years ago, to being the first intercollegiate competition in the United States, to recreational rowing right here in central Columbus! It’s an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors - and the views on Griggs Reservoir are one-of-a-kind. If you are a fitness buff, rowing provides a full body workout while having a low impact on your knees. Finally, rowing is the ultimate team sport - you have to work in sync with everyone else in your boat in order to move the boat well.

Under the supervision of experienced coaches and coxswains, you will receive a complete introduction to the sport, with a focus on proper technique, boat-handling, and safety. No prior rowing experience is necessary. After completing LTR 1 & 2, you are encouraged to join GCRA as a member. There are many opportunities and programs available within GCRA to help you continue to build your skills, meet your rowing goals, and socialize with fellow rowers.

GCRA’s Learn to Row is only for adults (18+), and participants must pass a swimming and physical test for safety purposes. Information on the swim test will be sent out to those who register. If you are unable to complete these tests, GCRA will issue a full refund.  Please note – this is the only case in which a refund will be issued.
